Strength meets strength in Dollar General Bowl’s Ohio-Troy matchup | AL.com

December 22, 2016

Ohio coach Frank Solich said it’s not only Troy’s offensive line that has accounted for the nation’s lowest sack total – quarterback Brandon Silvers has something to do with it, too.

“Their quarterback is a very smart quarterback, excellent thrower, gets rid of the ball very quickly, identifies open guys quickly, gets the ball to them, is able to move around in the pocket, scramble, make some runs with his legs,” Solich said of the former Gulf Shores High School standout. “It’ll certainly be a situation where we’ll have to work for everything we get.”

GULF SHORES, AL (WALA) - Work is now well underway in Gulf Shores on the Gulf Place Beach Revitalization project.  Contractors began work on phase one of the 15 million dollar project and thanks to plenty of dry weather, things are on schedule.

Work began on the new Gulf Place beachfront as soon as the National Shrimp Festival was over.  Since then, the public beach at West 2nd Street has been closed.  From afar, it may not look like a lot has changed since, but that’s far from true.

December 03, 2016

Money. Politics. National reputation. Bad publicity. Angry constituents.

And those are just a few of the things that were at stake when Gulf Shores city leaders took up a proposal to ban alcohol on the beach during the spring break season.

Some politicians tend to wimp out under these kinds of pressures, but on this issue, the ones in Gulf Shores didn’t. By unanimous vote, they decided this past week that no alcohol can be possessed or consumed on a beach within the city limits from March 4 to April 16, 2017.
