Christmas Boat ParadeDec. 1, 2017 - (OBA) - The Coastal Alabama Business Chamber's 32nd Annual Christmas Lighted Boat Parade will take place Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 5:00 PM launching from Lulu's Homeport Marina in Gulf Shores. The parade will travel east down the Intracoastal Waterway Canal, past The Wharf (public viewing area), around Bear Point, along the south end of Ono Island, west to Perdido Pass, north into Terry Cove Harbor, south to the bridge, and end at the Flora-Bama Ole River Grill.
Over the past 32 winter seasons, the Nautical Night of Lights has grown in size and scope, attracting motor and sail hulls alike and even a kayak or two! Over the past few years, the event has featured more than 50 boats, and nearly 60 are expected this year. The Coastal Alabama Business Chamber will host judges on their vessel to rank the spectacular displays on presentation and creativity.
"The Annual Boat Parade is a tradition for residents and visitors alike," said Rod Peevy, the Chamber's Vice Chair for Tourism & Special Events. "Whether you are looking for the perfect venue for a company Christmas Party, or just a fun evening for the family, the Boat Parade has something for everyone.'
Anyone wishing to enter a boat in the parade and any companies seeking referrals for boat charters are urged to contact the Coastal Alabama Business Chamber at 251-968-7200. All boat captains will be required to attend the captain's meeting Friday, December 8, 2017 at 6:00 PM at the Flora-Bama Yacht Club.
The Annual Christmas Lighted Boat Parade is part of the Chamber's Coastal Christmas initiative, which includes scores of other events, including our annual Merry Market Christmas Gift and Craft Show and numerous events put on by businesses, churches, and other organizations during the time period between Thanksgiving Day and New Year's Day.
