The Happiness Retreat

Details: Hosted by several local yoga instructors, this all-inclusive, three-day weekend luxury retreat includes accommodations in a stunning private beach-front home (GSVacationRentals.com/Gulf-Shores-Rentals/Halekai-III), healthy spa cuisine, yoga, workshops, and down time to relax and reflect. Workshops will include studies on the joy of connection, purpose of gratitude and much more. Morning and restorative yoga classes will be offered along with guided meditations. Accommodation amenities include pool and hot tub access, lounge areas, two kitchens, 11 bathrooms and a private beach area. The goal of The Happiness Retreat is to give guests time to reconnect and even redefine what happiness is to them. Limited number of spots available.

Details: Awakened Life is an annual family-friendly yoga retreat held at Gulf State Park (AlaPark.com/Gulf-State-Park) incorporating a variety of practices including power vinyasa, Buti, acro, restorative, kundalini and much more. The event lineup features several regional stars including Michelle Baker, director and founder of Swan River Yoga in New Orleans, who will perform with her group Bhakti Caravan, and Grayson Capps, award-winning musician based in Mobile, Ala. There will also be an Earth Day relay benefitting the Gulf Coast Youth Mindfulness Project. Several cabin and tent camping packages are available, including the Spa Retreat Package which features a private cabin, all-access festival pass, Swedish massage, Thai massage and one-hour session with spiritual teacher Tracey Owens.

3rd Annual Flora-Bama Gulf Coast Paddle Championship

Details: Three courses including one-, four- and nine-mile races. Awards and a post-race party will kick-off upon the end of the competition on Saturday. “Sunday Fun Day” includes sprint and relay races, along with a kid’s clinic beginning at 10:30 a.m. Cash prizes will be awarded for specific races.

Details: Gulf Shores and Orange Beach visitors can get some fun with their fitness at Big Beach Brewing Company, the destination’s first brewery. Glow Yoga (Glow-Yoga.com) hosts a donation-based yoga class at the brewery once a month. A different charity will be chosen as the recipient for each class. And every Wednesday, runners and walkers alike meet for a four-mile trek down Waterway Village followed by discounted beer.
