2018 Shrimp Festival Poster
June 14, 2018 - Gulf Shores, AL - (OBA®) The Annual National Shrimp Festival presents artist Loran Chavez of Fairhope, Alabama as the 2018 Poster Contest Winner.

The Annual National Shrimp Festival has been hosting the Poster Contest since 1981. Artists must incorporate the festival themes of art, food, and music, the festival location of Gulf Shores & Orange Beach, Alabama, and the year and name of the festival.

This year, the Coastal Alabama Business Chamber received 32 entries from all over the country. The entries are judged by a sub-committee made up of members of the Chamber staff, the retail committee, the fine arts committee, and the Festival Chairman. They select they top 5 posters from the whole. Then, the entire Shrimp Festival Committee vote on the winner.

The 2018, 47th Annual Poster winner is Loran Chavez from Fairhope, AL. Ms. Chavez is no stranger to the Annual National Shrimp Festival, she was also the winner of the 2013 42nd Annual National Shrimp Festival poster contest. Ms. Chavez was presented with a prize of $1000.00 and will be present on Sat, Oct. 14 during the Annual National Shrimp Festival to sign posters and souvenirs for festival attendees.

"The poster represents the Shrimp Festival as a whole. It incorporates its main themes of music, art, and food," said Festival Chairman Spencer Cade. "It has become an important brand for each official year and serves as the unique piece for that year."
