The series will continue to showcase six songwriting artists each month, featuring local, regional and national touring songwriters. There will also be a Nashville hit songwriter featured quarterly. Organizations in central Alabama have established relief funds to assist those affected by the tornado that ripped through parts of Wetumpka.

The Central Alabama Community Foundations is already accepting donations at its website, www.cacfinfo.org. They can also also accept checks mailed to CACF, 114 Church Street, Montgomery, AL 36104.

Stockton man dies in early morning Baldwin County crash January 20, 2019

BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. (WKRG) — Alabama State Troopers are investigating a fatal crash that claimed the life of a 19-year-old Stockton man.

Troopers say Adrian Baugh Johnson was traveling north on Moog Avenue in a 2014 Ford F-150 when his vehicle left the roadway and hit a tree. Troopers say, despite using a seat belt, Johnson suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash which happened shortly before 1:30 a.m.

Code Red weather weekend: Rain, strong winds, then much colder | WPMI January 19, 2019

A line of thunderstorms with a brief round of heavy rain and gusty (potentially damaging) winds will roll through the region between 11 am and 5 pm. Students speak out about Gulf Shores split January 19, 2019


GULF SHORES, Ala. (WKRG) — Students at Gulf Shores High School tell News 5 they’re now tangibly feeling the impact of the split, after getting word their principal, Cindy Veazey will be leaving.

The Baldwin County Board of Education confirmed to News 5 that Veazey and middle school principal Kyle McCartney have both applied for and landed jobs at the new Orange Beach schools.

Orange Beach man arrested on child sex charges | al.com January 19, 2019

An Orange Beach man was charged Thursday accused of sexually abusing a child under 12 years old.

Robert Lee McClennan is also charged with enticing a child and possession of child pornography with the intent to disseminate, according to Baldwin County Jail records. McClellan’s bond was set at $52,500.

Several recent catches by fishermen suggest something unusual is happening along the Alabama coast, namely the “tropicalization” or our waters.“

As soon as I saw it roll on top of the water, I told Lyons, ‘that ain’t a trout,’” said Thomas Nelson, describing the day he and Lyons Bousson reeled in what is believed to be the first snook ever caught in Alabama’s Weeks Bay. Similarly, folks fishing with surf fishing guide Matthew Isbell, better known as the Bama Beach Bum, caught a pair of tiny bonefish this fall, believed to be the first ever caught in Alabama.

Child shot in Bay Minette; shooting appears accidental, police say | al.com January 19, 2019

Bay Minette police say a child was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound Friday night, WKRG reported.

Police told WKRG the shooting appears to be accidental. The shooting happened at a home in Bay Minette.

Revisions to a final separation agreement between the Baldwin County School System and Gulf Shores city schools is “certainly something we could look at,” state Superintendent Eric Mackey said Friday.

But Mackey said any request to make changes to the legal separation decision he issued late Wednesday, and which Gulf Shores city school officials signed Thursday, will require initiative from Baldwin County school officials.

Orange Beach man arrested on child sex abuse charges January 18, 2019

ORANGE BEACH, Ala. (WKRG) — An Orange Beach man has been arrested on sex charges involving a child under the age of 12.

According to Orange Beach Police, 66-year-old Robert Lee McClellan was arrested on charges of sexual abuse of a child under 12, enticing a child and possession of pornography.
