Buc-ee’s hiring, opening in Baldwin County in January November 13, 2018


BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. (WKRG) — Unlike anything you have ever seen, that is how the Buc-ee’s Travel Center is being described and if you want to work there, they are hiring.

Billboards have been up for a while along major Baldwin County highways advertising all the jobs and they will have to fill them pretty fast. They plan to open in two months.

Blue Cross Blue Shield warns of robocall scam | al.com November 13, 2018

One of the state’s biggest insurers is warning customers of a robocall scam and advising people to protect their personal information.

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama issued a press release Monday warning customers about a nationwide wave of robocalls that claim to be from the insurance company. The calls are apparently being made to market insurance products by using the BCBS brand and coincide with enrollment periods for Medicare and the Federal Employee Program, the release said.

Public hearing scheduled for ALDOT Intracoastal Waterway bridge project | fox10tv.com November 13, 2018

Construction on a new bridge over the Intracoastal Waterway off Canal Road is set to begin next spring. Before it does, ALDOT is holding a public hearing where they’re asking for your input on the best way to move forward. They’re still looking at options on how it will connect to Highway 59 and the Foley Beach Express.

Organization helping veterans get free vacations on the Gulf Coast | WPMI November 12, 2018


ORANGE BEACH, Ala. (WPMI) — We thank them for their service and honor all they do for our country every day, but our military veterans often still face adversity when they return home, especially those who’ve been wounded.

Dave Riley, an Army and Coast Guard veteran and Semmes native who lost his limbs due to an infection, knows that adversity well.

4th Annual Battleship 12k November 12, 2018


More than 1700 runners took part in the 4th Annual Battleship 12k.  It started in at Spanish Fort Town Center and they raced along the Causeway finishing at Battleship Memorial Park.

CAUGHT ON CAMERA: Delivery person appears to steal package after dropping it at front door November 12, 2018


A package goes from delivered to stolen in what may be record time.  A homeowner in Spanish Fort posted this video on her Facebook page Saturday night.  The video shows what appears to be an Amazon flex driver delivering packages in a personal vehicle.  She puts two packages on the front doorstep, takes a picture for delivery verification, then takes the larger of the two packages back into her vehicle and drives away.  Homeowner Beverley Cameron says she’s more annoyed than upset.

Colder this weekend, Code Red Weather MondaySaturday night will be the coldest night of the season so far as temperatures fall into the upper 30s inland and low 40s along the coast. Passing clouds and a light breeze is expected to keep us frost-free on Sunday morning. Clouds will continue to collect on Veteran’s Day as temperatures climb into the low 60s.

Dedication Saturday for Loxley Veterans Monument November 11, 2018


Loxley, AL (WKRG) – Just in time for Veterans Day, a special ceremony is happening Saturday morning at Loxley Municipal Park.  Members of the town council, special guests and others will dedicate the new Loxley Veterans Monument this morning at 10.  The recently completed monument sits just feet from the heavily traveled Highway 59 in Loxley.  It is a brick wall with seals for each of the five branches of the military.  The display includes six flagpoles.

Stapleton woman connected to child sex crime November 10, 2018

STAPLETON, Ala. (WKRG) — New information and another arrest in a child sex case in News 5 reported earlier this week in Baldwin County.

A Stapleton woman, Rosanna Thomas Perez, was arrested for willful abuse of a child. She is out of jail on bond now, but authorities say she could have stopped the beating of a young boy.  “As the child ran away and tried to get away from the beating, she actually caught the child and brought him back so the beatings could continue,” says Capt. Steve Arthur with the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office.

Cell phones, hats banned from Baldwin courthouses November 10, 2018

BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. (WKRG) — If you have business at any of the three courthouses in Baldwin County listen up; changes are coming on what you can and can’t bring inside the building.

Metal detectors and X-ray machines scan every person entering a courthouse for security reasons.  Now, along with all the things you can’t bring into a courthouse in Baldwin County, you can add cell phones to the list because of the actions of a few.

What’s Working: Gym for special needs children set to open in Daphne November 10, 2018

DAPHNE, Ala. (WKRG) — In tonight’s What’s Working, we take you a place where children with special needs can let loose and have fun.  It’s a new kid’s gym in Daphne that opens a week from Sunday.  It’s called “We Rock the Spectrum Daphne.”  It’s a place where typical children and those with special needs can play together. “We Rock the Spectrum” is a national franchise and the first location in Alabama.

Orange Beach Planning Commission to meet November 14th | Orange Beach November 10, 2018

The Orange Beach Planning Commission is scheduled to meet at 3 p.m. Wednesday, November 14th for its work session followed by its 4 p.m. regular meeting in the Council Chambers at City Hall. The meeting was rescheduled from Monday, November 12th due to the Veterans Day observance.
