Mayor Ralph Hellmich

Foley, Ala. — (OBA) — Mayor Ralph Hellmich has officially announced his re-election campaign for Mayor of Foley. He is running under the theme “Your Mayor. Your Voice.” Hellmich said he remains committed to being an accessible, results-driven leader. His priorities are grounded in what benefits the Foley community.

The election will take place on August 26, 2025, at the Foley Civic Center. A campaign kickoff event is scheduled for June 5 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hotel Magnolia, 119 N McKenzie Street.

Since becoming mayor, Hellmich has concentrated on four main areas: infrastructure, public safety, education, and quality of life. His administration has made major strides in each.

Infrastructure upgrades include 27 improved intersections and a new traffic signal program. Pedestrian safety also improved through new sidewalks and solar crosswalks.

Foley is now considered one of Baldwin County’s safest cities. Investments in police and fire equipment, new stations, and youth outreach programs have all played a role.

In education, Foley now contributes $600,000 annually to local schools. This has helped raise ACT scores and fund career paths in public safety.

Quality of life projects include adding park space and LED lighting. A new $20 million library and community center is under construction, with more projects planned.

Before becoming mayor, Hellmich served over 16 years on the Foley City Council. He also held roles on boards for utilities, planning, and redevelopment.

Hellmich graduated from Foley High and earned a degree in geology from the University of Alabama. He worked as a regional operations supervisor for the Alabama Oil and Gas Board.

He and his wife Jo McGill Hellmich have three children and one grandchild. To learn more or to get involved, visit
