City of Foley Offices to be Closed for Memorial Day

Most offices and services resume Tuesday, May 27

Foley, Ala. — (OBA) — Most city offices that don't handle emergencies will be closed on Monday for Memorial Day. This includes Foley City Hall and other municipal buildings. All closed offices will reopen on Tuesday with regular hours. Trash collection will still happen as usual.

Memorial Day falls on Monday, May 26. Recycling pickup will not take place that day, but it will start again on Tuesday, May 27.

The city will begin collecting limbs, yard debris, and bulk items again on Thursday. Residents should expect some delays as crews work to catch up, and all collections will begin at 6 a.m.

The Foley Public Library will be closed on Monday, May 26. The library will reopen with its regular hours on Tuesday, May 27.

The Interpretive Center at the Graham Creek Nature Preserve will be closed Saturday, May 24, and Monday, May 26. Trails at the preserve will be open during each day.

The Foley Welcome Center, Holmes Medical Museum and Foley Railroad Museum will be closed.

The American Legion Chapter 99 will hold a Memorial Day commemoration Monday morning at the Veteran's Memorial at Max Griffin Park on South Alston Street.

Salty Shuffle Poker Run Set to Support Baldwin County Housing Efforts

Gulf Shores, Ala. — (OBA) — The Salty Shuffle Poker Run is coming to Gulf Shores, and aims to help fight homelessness in Baldwin County. The event is hosted by the Sea Glass Initiative, a nonprofit that works to provide housing solutions for local families and children. Boaters are invited to cruise the Intracoastal Waterway, stopping at waterfront venues to collect poker chips and build their best hand. All proceeds from the event will go to support the Sea Glass Initiative’s mission.

Foley's Barin Field Trained Many of our Country's Heroes

Foley, Ala. — (OBA) — South Baldwin County has played a role in military training over the years. Foley’s contributions to World War II are highlighted in a new exhibit at the Foley Railroad Museum. The exhibit, focusing on Barin Field, commemorates the Navy aviator training base used during World War II and the Korean War. Barin Field opened Dec. 5, 1942, nearly a year after the Pearl Harbor attack brought the U.S. into the war.

City Begins Distributing Hurricane Re-entry Stickers

Orange Beach, Ala. — (OBA) — Orange Beach residents can soon pick up hurricane re-entry decals for the upcoming storm season. These decals help people return home after evacuations during hurricanes. The decals will cover three hurricane seasons, from 2025 through 2027. Residents should not attach the decals to their windshields until required for re-entry.

Fishing Tournament Supports Children’s Hospital
