Coastal Tailgate Cook-Off Challenge Brings Football, Food, and Fundraising to The Wharf

Orange Beach, Ala. - (OBA) - The Coastal Alabama Business Chamber (CABC) has revealed plans for a brand new event, the Inaugural Coastal Tailgate Cook-Off Challenge, to take place at The Wharf on Saturday, August 26. The cook-off will offer attendees the chance to sample various foods while enjoying a game day atmosphere. Competing tailgating teams will have the opportunity to win a coveted golden ticket to the World Food Championships (WFC) in Dallas, Texas, as well as people's choice awards in multiple categories.


The event will not only celebrate the return of football but also serve as a kickoff fundraiser for the newly established CABC Foundation. The foundation aims to support education efforts in the Coastal Alabama area. Penny Hughey, VP of Education & Programs for the CABC, expressed her enthusiasm for the new foundation, stating that it has been a labor of love and the chamber looks forward to introducing it to the community.


Greg Alexander, President & CEO of the CABC, emphasized that the foundation will help coordinate and fund educational resources, programs, and research to further advance the chamber's activities. He expressed excitement about the new opportunities the foundation will bring to their efforts.


Danny Calametti, CEO of Alabama Coasting and a longtime WFC Partner, will help to bring the  WFC competition back to Orange Beach. Calametti pointed out that both amateurs and professionals have always enjoyed and succeeded in their events, so everyone is welcome to join the competition.


Competitor Information: 

The entry fee to take part in the Challenge is $100 and the CABC will post rules, competition details, and a sign-up link to mygulfcoastchamber.com the week of May 15. The competition is open to amateurs & professionals of all ages who can compete either as an individual or a team.

 

Attendee Information: 

For a $20 ticket, attendees will be granted entry to the Marina Lawn at The Wharf to enjoy samplings of all competitors’ preparations, live music, games, cornhole, and one vote towards the people’s choice awards. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks will also be available for purchase. Attendees are asked to come out in their best college football themed attire as a ‘best dressed fan’ award will be given out by organizers.
