Doc’s Seafood Plans New Foley Location

City of Foley Welcome Sign

Foley, Ala. – (OBA) – The owners of Doc’s Seafood recently sold their long-held restaurant Hazel’s Nook in Gulf Shores to the owners of Duck’s Diner but are now moving on a new Doc’s location in Foley of the iconic Alabama Gulf Coast restaurant staple.

Plans for a new Doc’s planned for the southeast corner of the intersection of County Road 20 and the South Juniper Street extension will go before the Foley Planning Commission at its work session meeting on Aug. 14 and the regular session on Aug. 21. Both meetings will be at 4 p.m. in council chambers at city hall and staff will recommend approval.

The commission will also take up three extensions for subdivisions adding as many as 508 new home sites in the city or in the planning jurisdiction. Items to be discussed at the meetings include:

A request for a one-year extension for River Oaks phase three for 16.74 acres to be subdivided into 68 lots. It is located south of Michigan Avenue and east of Hickory Street. This is the first extension request on the subdivision and city staff will recommend approval.

A one-year extension for Muscadine Place containing 38 acres and planning for 182 lots located at the northeast corner of County Road 20 and Hickory Street. Staff will recommend approval with conditions.

A third request for a one-year extension for Grasslands located east of County Road 65 and south of Dairy Lane on 75.51 acres and containing 258 lots. Engineering and Environmental staff will recommend denying the extension due to problems with muddy runoff and “incomplete and unstabilized road widening”.

A request for a minor subdivision of 15.86 acres in the Charnoock Subdivision south of Underwood Road and west of George Younce Road into three lots. The land is in the Foley planning jurisdiction and staff will recommend approval.

A request for the resubdivision of lots one and three of Carruth Acres consisting of 7.9 acres and three lots located south of Underwood Road and west of George Younce Road in the city’s planning jurisdiction. Staff will recommend approval.

A request to replat lots one through four of Summerlyn Subdivision consisting of 2.87 acres and four lots located south of Underwood Road and west of County Road 65. Staff will recommend approval.

A request to approve the Apco Foley Substation located on 10.06 acres and one lot located south of County Road 26 and west of County Road 65. Staff will recommend approval.

A public hearing on a request to approve the resubdivision of lot C in Curtis Cove consisting of 2.9 acres and three lots located north of Cool Springs Drive and east of River Road North in the city’s planning jurisdiction. Staff will recommend approval.

A public hearing on a request to subdivide 16.65 acres and two lots at the Foley Beach Express Industrial Park Unit 7 located south of Industrial Parkway and east of the beach express. Staff will recommend approval.

A rezoning request for a South Juniper Street multi-family planned unit development on 50.48 acres located east of South McKenzie Street and south of Miflin Road. The request is to change from extended business and planned development district to PUD and staff will recommend approval.

Two items are scheduled for just the work session including discussions on residential projects located at the southeast corner of County Road 32 and Bucolic Lane and another located east of James Road and north of County Road 12.
