OBHS Has More Champions... In Performing Arts This Time

OBHS Is A Winner In Performing Arts

Orange Beach, Ala. – (OBA) – Orange Beach High School has produced some great State Champions in 2021. This time they did it on a different field.


The Theatre Department of the Orange Beach Conservatory of Fine Arts at Orange Beach High School competed in the Walter Trumbauer Theatre Festival in early December. The festival was held at Troy University with nearly two thousand high school students from around the state. OBHS competed in eighteen events including monologues, duet scenes, and solo musical songs.


OBHS students received 16 superior ratings and 2 excellent ratings.

Additionally, several students placed state-wide. They are as follows:


Luiza Salazar - 3rd place in the state - Solo pop/rock Musical


Houston Bryant & Cate Courtney - 3rd place in the state - Duet Dramatic Scene


Evie Rosa Butler & River Hallex - 2nd place in the state - Duet Dramatic Scene


Evie Rosa Butler - 1st place in the state - Dramatic Monologue


This was Evie Rosa Butler’s second time in a row to win 1st place in the state for competing in

the dramatic monologue event.


Darren Butler is the director of the theatre department where he teaches classes in acting

techniques, theatre appreciation, drama for middle school, musical theatre, and theatre tech. Mr.

Butler holds an MFA from Point Park University and is an established playwright, screenwriter,

and novelist.
