Publix Grand Opening in Gulf Shores

Gulf Shores, Ala. – (OBA) – Publix is continuing its expansion across Alabama with the announcement of a new store opening in Gulf Shores. 


The new Publix supermarket will be located on Gulf Shores Parkway near Zaxby's, replacing a former Winn-Dixie building. The new store will host a grand opening on April 24th at 7:00am and will occupy a 65,000-square-foot space in the Paradise Isle Shopping Center. 


This new store in Gulf Shores is part of Publix's broader growth strategy in Alabama. The company currently operates 88 stores across the state and has plans to open several more in the coming years. 


Some of the other Alabama cities where Publix is planning new stores include Irondale, Fairhope, Wetumpka, and Semmes. The company is expected to open a store in Irondale on November 1st, while projects in Fairhope, Wetumpka, and Semmes are slated for completion by 2024. 


Publix, which is the largest employee-owned grocery chain in the United States, and has been rapidly expanding throughout the Southeast, opening more than 50 new stores since 2022.

Orange Beach Honors Longtime Coach David McLain at During Opening Day Celebrations

Orange Beach, Ala. – (OBA) – The City of Orange Beach kicked off its 2025 Baseball and Softball Season with a heartfelt tribute to longtime volunteer coach, David McLain. During the opening ceremony, Mayor Tony Kennon and the City Council surprised Coach McLain by dedicating Field 5 in his honor. Unaware of the plan, McLain read aloud the plaque's inscription at the center of Field 5, realizing the field now bears his name. He then threw the ceremonial first pitch, marking the official start of the season.
