What time is it? It’s time for fishing! Like many experienced captains in the area, Captain Mike Rowell of “Annie Girl Charters” grew up on the water. An electrician by trade, Rowell spent his life in the fishing industry alongside his father and brother, always hoping for the chance to call the deck his office. Now, with decades of experience as a career captain, Mike is enjoying his twenty-third season with “The Annie Girl”—a dream come true for him. It truly makes a difference to experience these wonders with a crew who loves what they do, and the team at Annie Girl Charters embodies that spirit. Whether you’re an experienced angler or a novice, the hands are ready to teach and guide each group through the exciting experience of fishing for Amberjack, Triggerfish, Wahoo, or whatever is biting that day. The spacious vessel offers various charter packages designed for anyone wishing to explore the deeper side of island living. The journey includes most supplies; however, guests are encouraged to bring personal comfort items such as sunscreen, snacks, and water. Keep an eye out for other marine creatures in their natural habitats, such as dolphins jumping alongside the boat, and even sharks and sea turtles. Hook your fishing trip today with Annie Girl Charters at Zeke’s Marina—you won’t regret this bite.

Engaging with local communities is fundamentally about investing in our youth, and one of the most impactful mediums for this effort is through theater.  Join the ensemble at South Baldwin Community Theatre as they explore the narrative of Emily and her really big problem, she may have a “Monster in the Closet.” This production delves into the complexities of childhood imagination and the interface between reality and fantasy. The protagonist, Emily, faces the frustration of being interrupted at a critical juncture of her new video game, to be told to go to bed, compounded by the presence of a monster residing in her closet, making it all a bit too much for Miss Emily. To confront this entity, she orchestrates a sleepover, intending to capture the so-called monster. However, the narrative reveals that Murray, the closet monster, is not a malevolent force; rather, he embodies the protective figure assigned to oversee a child at birth. This dynamic juxtaposes the conventional fear of monsters with an underlying theme of guardianship, i.e. protection and the importance of understanding the role of these so-called creatures in a child's development. Support local kids in the arts with this year’s first in SBCT’s “Young Artist Series.”
