Traffic rerouted to ease congestion near work zone

Temporary Four-Way Stop Installed on Baldwin County 12

Foley, Ala. – (OBA) – A temporary four-way stop has been installed at the intersection of Baldwin County 12 and James Road in response to traffic changes caused by ongoing construction at the Baldwin County 12 and Alabama 59 intersection.

The stop sign was added for public safety after portions of County 12 were detoured on Feb. 6 to accommodate road widening and culvert extensions at the intersection.

Traffic is now being rerouted via the Foley Beach Express and Miflin Road-Baldwin County 20 to bypass the construction zone. Motorists are advised to follow posted traffic signs, drive cautiously, and reduce speeds in the affected areas.

Construction will continue with additional widening, concrete items and paving for the right turn lanes under typical lane closures.

The project includes adding right-turn lanes on Alabama 59 North and Alabama 59 South and adding left and right-turn lanes on Baldwin County 12.  The project also includes culvert extensions and signal upgrades.

Work at the intersection of Alabama 59 and Baldwin County 12 is scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2025.
