Bay Minette, Ala. – (OBA) – The Baldwin County Commission announced a significant reshuffling of its meeting schedules, deciding to hold both the Commission Work Sessions and Regular Meetings on the same day. This change is set to take effect on November 7, 2023.

Historically, the Commission Work Sessions, where the regular meeting agenda is discussed and the consent agenda is set, preceded the Regular Meetings each month. However, in a move to streamline operations, both will now be conducted on the same day.

The schedule confirms that Work Sessions will commence at 8:30 a.m., followed by the Regular Meetings at 10:00 a.m. These sessions will take place on the first and third Tuesday of each month.

Residents should note the location changes as well. The first Tuesday meetings will be at the Baldwin County Administration Building, located at 322 Courthouse Square, Bay Minette. Meanwhile, the third Tuesday meetings will be held at the Baldwin County Fairhope Satellite Courthouse, situated at 1100 Fairhope Avenue, Fairhope. The full calendar and meeting agendas remain accessible on the official
Baldwin County website.

In addition to these changes, the annual rotation of the County Commission Chairmanship will see Commissioner Charles Skip Gruber of District 4 passing the baton to Commissioner Billie Jo Underwood of District 3. The official handover will occur during the Commission meeting on November 7th.

Expressing gratitude for the support he received during his term, Commissioner Gruber warmly welcomed Commissioner Underwood. In response, Commissioner Underwood mentioned her previous tenure as chair from November 2019 to October 2020, hoping for a smoother year without challenges like pandemics or hurricanes. Emphasizing the importance of teamwork, she said, "It is very important to have a good relationship with your colleagues, and the county commission working together well."

Commissioner Underwood also expressed her eagerness to collaborate with the County Administrator and County Engineer, ensuring the efficient and effective meeting of Baldwin County residents' daily needs.

Lastly, it's worth noting that during Commissioner Underwood's term as Chairman, Commissioner Matthew McKenzie from District 2 will assume the role of Vice-Chairman.
