Scammer arrested in Foley for Selling Fake Gold Bars
Foley Police warn the public about a fake gold scam

Foley, Ala. – (OBA) – The Foley Police Department is warning the public about a fake gold scam and is seeking additional victims of the alleged scammer.
On October 26, 2023, Dylan Thomas Jemison, 20, of Sylacauga, Alabama, was arrested and charged with one count of theft by deception. Jemison is accused of selling several 1-ounce fake gold bars to a local resident for a large sum of money.
The fake gold, which Jemison was selling as real gold on Facebook Marketplace, has the appearance and packaging of real gold and passes what many would use as a test to confirm the authenticity of gold. When Jemison was arrested, he was in possession of dozens more fake gold pieces and alluded to having swindled others through the sale of fake gold.
The Foley Police Department is asking anyone who has purchased gold from Jemison or gold resembling the images below to have their items authenticated immediately. If you believe you have purchased fake gold from Jemison or any other person, notify your local authorities immediately.
