Gulf Shores, Ala. – (OBA) – The Gulf Shores High School Boys Soccer Team won the State Championship and it is time to celebrate. Superintendent Matt Akin announced to the City Council that the celebration would take place on Wednesday the 15th at LuLu's in Gulf Shores. The festivities will begin at 6 PM.
During the event, champions in tennis and wrestling will also be recognized. The Gulf Shores Girls Soccer team will be recognized for the achievement of being State Runner-Up for the 2nd consecutive year.
The Gulf Shores High School boy's soccer team made history on last week, winning their first-ever state championship with a 5-0 victory over Elmore County in the AHSAA 5A finals. The Dolphins, led by head coach Danny Norton, capped off an impressive 23-6 season with the dominant performance at the John Hunt Soccer Complex in Huntsville.
"This team has worked so hard all season and they deserve this championship," said Coach Danny Norton. "I'm so proud of the way they played tonight and all year. This is a special group that made history for our school."
