Orange Beach, Ala. – (OBA) – The Orange Beach City Council will meet at 5 p.m. on Oct. 3 in a joint work/regular session. During the regular council meeting, the council will:
Discuss finalizing the purchase of a house at 26192 Canal Road from Mary and Bert Taylor for $860,000. The Taylors have requested to stay in the house for nine months after the sale with conditions set by the city including maintaining insurance and keeping utilities in their names until they move out.
Recognize Lt. Brian Hester who is retiring from the Orange Beach Fire Department.
Receive a report from the finance director noting the city collected $1.9 million in sales taxes in September and $2.6 million in lodging taxes including $768,362 earmarked for city schools. For the year, the city has collected $16.2 million in sales taxes and $30.5 million in lodging taxes, including $3.6 million earmarked for city schools.
Consider approval of $1.1 million paid in expense vouchers through Oct. 4.
Consider awarding the bid for the build out of the interior of the Wildlife Center for $720,000 to Rolin Construction.
Discuss a resolution for a taxi franchise for CrozzzzCabs to operate a service in the city’s police jurisdiction.
Consider approving a liquor license for more than 30 days for Sun Outdoors RV park.
Discuss awarding the bid for replacing the Recreation Center roof to Dobson Sheet Metal and Roofing and Specialties for $791,000.
Considering awarding the bid for 2023 road resurfacing to Arrington Curb and Excavation for $745,990.
Consider authorizing an agreement with Andy Andrews for employee training for $120,000. This will include two custom videos each month for 12 months. The city plans to have 400 employees participate during the year.
Have a public hearing on an ordinance change to allow a conditional use permit for McInnis Company Office and Storage to add in the first phase a 7,000-square-foot covered storage area attached to the current building, a 1,520-square-foot shed and two mini warehouses of 12,500 square feet each. In the second phase, the company is looking to build a 6,000-square-feet commercial building and three mini storage buildings with a combined square footage of 25,000. The date suggested is Oct. 3. The council will then have a first reading of the ordinance change necessary for this conditional use permit.
