Orange Beach Planning Commission to Discuss Zoning Changes and New Marina
Canal Road Development Plans Up for Review

Orange Beach, Ala. – (OBA) – Two requests before the Orange Beach Planning Commission at its May 13 meeting will look to add 110 single-family residential lots along Canal Road in the East Orange Beach area.
Daniel Blackburn is requesting the commission rezone 45 acres in the northwest corner of Canal Road and Sampson Avenue from single-family residential to planned unit development containing 76 houses. This would include a common area in the subdivision and piers and slips along Bay La Launch.
Greg Kennedy is making a request for Mitchell G. Lattof Jr. to rezone 3.7 acres from marine resort to planned unit development for a single-family subdivision with 34 lots. This property is located in the southwest corner of the intersection of Canal Road and Captain Trent Lane.
The commission will meet in a work session on May 13 at 3 p.m. followed by the regular meeting at 4 p.m. During the meeting, the council will also discuss:
- A request to put a 26-slip marina on the Intracoastal Waterway just west of Niki’s Restaurant.
- Replatting the lot lines between 4309 and 4311 Lauder Lane for Christopher Dickens and Eric Langley.
- Moving a lot line between two parcels at 28633 and 28675 Sampson Avenue.
- A request to combine three lots in the Cool Breeze Commercial Park subdivision into two lots. The parcels are on the south side of Canal Road east of O’Reilly Auto Parts.
