Orange Beach Gears Up for a December Full of Holiday Magic

Orange Beach, Ala. – (OBA) – The Christmas season is brimming with festivities in Orange Beach, offering a variety of events for residents and visitors alike. From traditional Christmas tree lightings and festive performances to family-friendly fundraisers and community potlucks, the city’s calendar is packed with opportunities to celebrate. 


Here’s a look at the lineup of events to enjoy this December.

 

SUNDAY, DEC. 1ST: The Orange Beach Golf Center hosts its monthly Skins Game on Sunday, December 1st, with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Registration at noon. Cost is $25 for members and non-members, which covers closest-to-the-pin competitions, Skins and the entry fee. The public is welcome. For more information, call 251-981-GOLF (4653).


MONDAY, DEC. 2ND:
The Monthly Community Potluck will be held Monday, December 2nd at the Orange Beach Community Center. Doors open at 6 p.m. and dinner starts at 6:30. The December speaker will be Harry D'Olive, Baldwin County Judge of Probate, who will speak on probating the estate.  Entrée will be turkey and dressing, provided by the Orange Beach Community Association.  Everyone in the community is invited to bring a covered side dish or dessert. 


TUESDAY, DEC. 3RD:
The annual City of Orange Beach Christmas Tree Lighting will be held Tuesday, December 3rd on Main Street at The Wharf. The tree-lighting ceremony will begin at 5:30 p.m., featuring performers singing Christmas Carols, cookie decorating, letters to Santa, hot chocolate and will end with the traditional tree lighting and a visit by the big man in red. Weather permitting, there will be fireworks, too! 


FRIDAY AND SATURDAY, DEC. 6TH-7TH:
Coastal Ballet Company's annual performance of "The Nutcracker" will be held on December 6th-7th at the Orange Beach Performing Arts Center. The classical Christmas ballet will be performed at 7 p.m. Friday, December 6th and at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 7th. General admission tickets are $25 per adult, $10 for children ages 4-17, and free for children 3 and younger. Click here to purchase your tickets for "The Nutcracker." 


NOV. 29TH-DEC. 25TH:
The Garner C. Tampary Memorial Foundation, in cooperation with the City of Orange Beach, will host the 2nd Annual Merry Memories Tinsel Trail this Christmas holiday season at Orange Beach Waterfront Park. Grand opening of the trail will be Friday, November 29th and trees will be on display until December 25th. For more information and to register, visit https://www.lessonz.org/tinseltrail. 


SATURDAY, DEC. 7TH:
The Orange Beach Golf Center will host the inaugural Santa Scramble on Saturday, December 7th. Get ready to spread holiday cheer with a 9 a.m. tee time (check-in at 8 a.m.). SATURDAY, DEC. 7TH:
Jeep owners are invited to participate in a new holiday fundraiser for the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo – "Wild Lights: Holiday Jeeps." This family-friendly holiday night of fun will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Saturday, December 7th. There is a $25 registration fee for the Jeep. Register online by November 30th (100 spots available). For families wanting to attend the fundraising event, tickets will be $10 per person (2 and under free). Zoo members will be free with a valid Zoo Membership. Click here to purchase tickets. 


THURSDAY, DEC. 12TH:
The Coastal Art Center’s annual Light Up the Arts event will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 12th. There will be hot glass, pottery demonstrations, raffles, a gallery full of gift options with specials and a 2024 Limited Edition Ornament. Live holiday music by saxophonist Rod Pittman. A wine bar provided by Friends of the Arts.


TUESDAY, DEC. 12TH:
The Orange Beach Police Department invites the public to its annual Kids’ Christmas Party with Santa from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, December 12th at Magnolia Hall, behind BuzzCatz, next to Cosmo’s. Families are encouraged to enjoy games, crafts and photos with Santa. Kids can wear their favorite Christmas pajamas, too! 


TUESDAY, DEC. 17TH:
The Orange Beach Garden Club will present Christmas Carols at the Museum at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 17th at the Orange Beach History Museum. Celebrate the spirit of Christmas and gather with family and friends to sing along to timeless melodies performed by the Expect Excellence Music Program. Stroll through the Orange Beach History Museum adorned with time-period holiday décor, evoking the charm of Christmases past. Enjoy complimentary holiday cookies and hot apple cider, too. 


FRIDAY, DEC. 20TH:
Christmas Movie Night, co-hosted by the Backcountry Trail Foundation and the Orange Beach Coastal Resources Department, will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, December 20th at Al's Parkour Park on the Backcountry Trail.  This year's movie will be "The Grinch" (2018 version). Hot chocolate and popcorn will be provided. Admission is free but bring blankets and chairs for seating. Foley Celebrates 44 Years of Arbor Day Tradition

Foley, Ala. – (OBA) – Foley's 44th Arbor Day, celebrated on Saturday, February 22nd, was a bustling event focused on community and environmental improvement. Residents showed up in large numbers, forming lines to receive hundreds of free trees and seeds for butterfly gardens. ADPH Urges Parents to Vaccinate Kids Against Measles

Montgomery, Ala. – (OBA) – The Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH) is urging parents to ensure their children are vaccinated against measles, a highly contagious and serious illness. In early 2025, measles cases have been increasing in several states, including Texas and Georgia. Unvaccinated individuals who are exposed to the virus have a 90% chance of getting infected, and those who contract measles can spread it for up to three weeks.

Gulf Shores Plans Citywide Service Event on February 27

Clocks spring forward by one hour at 2 a.m. local time. This shift results in later sunrise and sunset times. On this date, sunrise is at 7:07 a.m., and sunset is at 6:55 p.m., providing approximately 11 hours and 48 minutes of daylight.
