Orange Beach, Ala. – (OBA) – Baldwin EMC, a major electricity provider in Baldwin County, is currently grappling with widespread power outages affecting over 12,000 meters across the county. The outages were caused by severe storms that swept through the area early this morning, leaving a trail of damage in their wake.
According to a statement from Baldwin EMC on their Facebook page, transmission lines are down in the Bay Minette area, and their power supplier is working to restore service. Additionally, two substations were hit by the storms, and numerous scattered outages have occurred due to fallen trees on power lines and broken poles.
Baldwin EMC crews are currently assessing the damage and working to restore power as quickly and safely as possible. The utility company has urged customers to exercise patience as the restoration efforts are underway.
Meanwhile, Baldwin EMC has issued a warning to residents, advising them not to approach any downed power lines and to immediately call 911 if they encounter such a situation. Downed power lines can be extremely dangerous and should be treated with caution.
The company has not provided an estimated time for full power restoration, but updates are expected as progress is made.
