Orange Beach, Ala. – (OBA) – Orange Beach Fire Rescue is offering a Safe Sitter course for students entering 6th through 8th grade.
The class will take place at the Orange Beach Fire Station, located at 25855 John Snook Drive (behind Orange Beach City Hall).
The course is scheduled for May 17, 2025, and will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The $75 fee is non-refundable and includes lunch.
Firefighters will teach emergency skills such as CPR and choking rescue for infants, children, and adults. The course also includes general first aid.
Students will learn how to manage child behavior, diaper babies, and understand child development at different stages. The class also covers life and business skills to help young people safely care for children and run a babysitting business.
Each student will receive a certification card, a sandwich lunch, a backpack with supplies, and a reference guide to take home.

Safe Sitter is a national program that helps prepare young teens to be responsible and stay safe while babysitting or home alone.
