Foley, Ala. – (OBA) – Hickory Street in Foley, Alabama, will close to traffic for about four weeks starting Monday, April 14. The closure affects the section between West Section Avenue and West Magnolia Avenue. Crews will work to repair damage caused by settlement around sewer lines.
The Foley City Council approved the resurfacing project in February. McElhenney Construction was awarded the $411,882 contract, with Sawgrass Consulting overseeing construction engineering and inspection.
Detour signs and message boards will be placed to guide drivers around the closed area. The city advises motorists to use alternate routes during the construction period.
Funding for the project comes from savings on other capital projects that came in under budget.
The resurfacing is part of Foley's ongoing efforts to improve city infrastructure. The city is also planning other road and sidewalk projects to enhance transportation and safety.
