Blue Angels to do a Hurricane Sally Beach Buzz

Blues expected to buzz the Pensacola to Perdido Key Friday morning

(OBA®) - Pensacola NAS & Orange Beach, AL - The U.S. Navy Blue Angels will be flying over the Pensacola area starting at 8 a.m. Friday, Sept. 25 as a tribute to the resiliency of the Pensacola NAS Area after Hurricane Sally.
"I am very appreciative of the Blue Angels for this incredible show of support for the people of Pensacola as we begin the long recovery from Hurricane Sally," Mayor Grover Robinson said. "This storm has impacted so many people in our community during a time when many of us were already facing challenging times, but I know we will recover. Pensacola is a strong, resilient community, and we will be even stronger once we get through this together."
"We hope this flight over Pensacola provides a touching display of appreciation for the thousands of Hurricane Sally first responders and the continued resolve of the people of this community," said Cmdr. Brian Kesselring, U.S. Navy Blue Angels commanding officer and flight leader for the flyover. "We will get through this, just like we have so much this past year. We are all in this together."
The Blue Angels flyover will include the following areas:
- Pensacola Beach
- Perdido Key
- Community Maritime Park
- Palafox Street in downtown Pensacola
- Areas surrounding Pensacola Fire Stations 1, 3 and 4
The Blue Angels will be visible from many locations throughout the Pensacola area and along this route. These flybys normally include the Orange Beach Area, over to Perdido Pass. We're hoping they go further west to include Gulf Shores, AL.
The public is reminded to continue to follow guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Chief Delmore will stay on the force as a special investigator until the end of his term, which ends in November.

Orange Beach, Ala. – (OBA) – Kris Anderson, a senior partner of Yates Anderson law firm in Orange Beach, apologized to the Mayor and City Council saying he may have "jumped the gun" with the lawsuit. However, Mayor Tony Kennon accused Anderson of trying to act like "Superman," being a "despicable individual," and painting the community in a racist light.
Gulf Shores, Ala. – (OBA) – Gulf Shores Golf Club in Alabama has appointed Grant Cole as its new head superintendent. Cole, a Class A Superintendent, previously led Braelinn Golf Club in Peachtree City, Georgia, and has extensive experience in course restoration and southeastern agronomic practices.
Orange Beach, Ala. – (OBA) – Alabama's 14th annual Severe Weather Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday is set for Friday, February 21, through Sunday, February 23, 2025. During this period, residents can purchase essential severe weather preparedness items without paying the state's 4% sales tax. In some areas, local taxes will also be waived, allowing shoppers to save up to 10% on eligible items.
Foley, Ala. – (OBA) – The Foley Planning Commission will review several requests for approvals of subdivisions located in the city limits and the city’s planning jurisdiction including a 258-lot development located east of County Road 65 and south of Dairy Lane. Staff will recommend approval.
