Routine Traffic Stop in Foley Turns into Collision, DUI Charges for Driver

Foley, Ala. - (OBA) - In the early hours of the morning, a routine traffic stop by Foley police took an unexpected turn. The incident occurred around 12:30 A.M. at The Foley Beach Express, just south of CO. RD. 12, where two police officers had pulled over a vehicle for a traffic violation.

While the officers were conducting the traffic stop, another vehicle, driven by a 43-year-old man named Braxton McMurphy, crashed into the rear of the police car. This collision resulted in minor injuries to both officers, who were promptly transported to South Baldwin Hospital for medical evaluation.

After receiving treatment, the officers were discharged from the hospital. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) took over the case and subsequently charged Mr. McMurphy with Driving Under the Influence (D.U.I.), and an Ignition Interlock violation.
