Gulf Shores, Ala. – (OBA) – On November 24, the Gulf Shores Police Department arrested a local man after he advertised a stolen vehicle for sale online. Officers received information about the stolen car, which was listed for sale in Gulf Shores.
Authorities determined the car was reported stolen by the Mobile Police Department. Officers soon spotted a vehicle matching the description near the 18000 block of Fort Morgan Road and stopped it as it entered Mo's Landing Park.
Officers identified the driver as Michael Palmer Swiger, a 30-year-old Gulf Shores resident. They confirmed the car—a 2018 Dodge Challenger Hellcat—was indeed the stolen vehicle. Swiger was arrested on the spot and charged with Possession of Stolen Property First Degree.
As the holiday shopping season is underway, authorities warn people to be cautious of deals that seem too good to be true, particularly online.
