New Margaritaville Plans Include Hotel Condos and Boat Docks
Townhomes and sea turtle center also on the city’s planning commission agenda

Orange Beach, Ala. – (OBA) – Developers are making moves to get the new Margaritaville Resort project started with two items on the Feb. 10 Orange Beach Planning Commission agenda. The commission will meet in a work session at 3 p.m. and the regular session starts at 4 p.m.
Sawgrass Consulting is making a request for a site plan review for phase two of the development of the waterfront district, including a six-story building with 100 condo-hotel units, 49 condo units and more than 76,000 square feet for the lobby and commercial space. On the water, developers want to build a 43-slip transient boat docks.
A second request by Sawgrass will be to subdivide 108 acres into six lots and two of those, lots two and four, will contain the waterfront district.
During the meetings, the commission will also discuss:
- The final subdivision of 27.8 acres called Lost Bay Cottages, a townhome subdivision planned behind Posh Furniture, Dollar General and Brett Robison’s laundry facility on Canal Road.
- Subdividing property is on Canal Road north of Avenue C with the plan to build seven single-family homes. The property abuts the undeveloped north end of Avenue C on the east and will include improvements to the right of way.
- Requests to subdivide four lots in the Mariner Lakes development to add to the rear of those lots on Windward Lakes Avenue.
- A request from the city for a site plan review for the Coastal Alabama Sea Turtle Center to be located near the Cotton Bayou Trailhead on State Route 161.
