Orange Beach Billfish Classic Tournament Rescheduled Due to Weather

Billfish Tournament Delayed by Forecast
Orange Beach, Ala. – (OBA) – The Orange Beach Billfish Classic, originally slated to begin this weekend, has been rescheduled due to an unfavorable weather forecast. The annual fishing tournament will now see boats departing on Monday, May 20th at noon, with activities concluding on Wednesday, May 22nd.
If you’d like to see a big boat parade, be at Perdido Pass on Monday at about 10:30am.
Registration for the event will occur on Saturday, May 18, from 4:00 PM to 10:30 PM, allowing participants to finalize their preparations. The shotgun start, marking the official commencement of fishing, is set for noon at just south of Perdido Pass.
Weigh-ins are scheduled for Tuesday, May 21, from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM, and again on Wednesday from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM, both at Marlin Circle at the Wharf.

Saturday, May 18th
- 4:00 – 10:30 pm: Registration and Optional Cash Awards open under the big tent
- 6:00 – 10:30 pm: Optional cash Awards Pot Party with cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and dinner (Private)
Monday, May 20th
- 9:00 am: Mandatory Captain’s Meeting under the big tent
- 9:30 am: Boats may leave The Wharf through Perdido Bay to Perdido Pass
- 12:00 noon: Boats may leave Perdido Pass. ALL boats must depart from Perdido
- 12:01 noon: Fishing Commences
Tuesday, May 21st
- 7:00 -10:00 pm: Weigh in at The Wharf
Wednesday, May 22nd6:00 pm – 10:00 pm: Weigh in at The Wharf
- 6:00pm- All boats must clear the Perdido Pass Bridge
- After the Close of the Weigh In: Tournament Awards Dinner (Private)

Mayor Robert Craft informed the city council of Chief Delmore’s intent during a meeting on Monday, February 17, 2025. Chief Delmore will stay on the force as a special investigator until the end of his term, which ends in November.

Cole, a Class A Superintendent, previously led Braelinn Golf Club in Peachtree City, Georgia, and has extensive experience in course restoration and southeastern agronomic practices.
Orange Beach, Ala. – (OBA) – Alabama's 14th annual Severe Weather Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday is set for Friday, February 21, through Sunday, February 23, 2025. During this period, residents can purchase essential severe weather preparedness items without paying the state's 4% sales tax. In some areas, local taxes will also be waived, allowing shoppers to save up to 10% on eligible items.
Foley, Ala. – (OBA) – The Foley Planning Commission will review several requests for approvals of subdivisions located in the city limits and the city’s planning jurisdiction including a 258-lot development located east of County Road 65 and south of Dairy Lane. Staff will recommend approval.
