Makos Girls Softball Team

Orange Beach, Ala. – (OBA) – The Orange Beach High School Girl's Softball Team is off to a hot start to the season. They are currently ranked 1st in Alabama Division 4A. Sophomore Ava Hodo already leads the way with home runs for the season and has a .500 batting average.


Steve Montoya, with CBS Sports, featured the Makos on his recent video blog and mentioned the team is "one to watch" for the 2024 season.


The Orange Beach Makos Softball is no stranger to the spotlight. Last season the team captured the Alabama State Championship for their division. Recently, they have had several players go on to Division 1 college softball programs.


In his latest national ranking article, Steve Montoya stated "No. 7 Orange Beach (Ala.) is on the rise and has now taken over as the top-ranked team from Alabama. Junior and South Carolina commit K.G. Favors is a beast at the plate and in the circle."


The Makos as a team have a batting average of .373, and has a on base plus slugging percentage of 1.162. Their slugging percentage is 47% higher than the national average.


The Makos will take on Navarre on the 11th at 6:30 PM. On the 12th they face Pace at 7PM. The Makos invite all locals to watch their games in Orange Beach.

The municipal elections in Foley, along with most of Alabama, are scheduled for August 26, 2025. If a runoff is required for any race, it will take place on September 23, 2025.

Foley, Ala. – (OBA) – A decorative metal fence will soon be added near the intersection of Alabama 59 and U.S. 98 as part of ongoing improvements to Foley’s Heritage Park. On Monday, March 17, the Foley City Council approved installing the fence near the city’s Welcome Center. According to Jeff Phillips, Foley’s construction projects manager, the new fence will enhance the park’s appearance, making it more attractive and open.
