Community Association honors first responders each November
Orange Beach, Ala. – (OBA) – The Orange Beach Community Association honored first responders at the annual Appreciation Dinner for the Orange Beach Fire Department and Police Department at the community center on Nov. 7.
Fire Chief Mike Kimmerling and Police Chief Steve Brown presented their department awards. The 2022 Firefighter of the Year is Firefighter James McMurray. Other firefighters were also recognized for their outstanding service during the past year.
The 2022 Officers of the Year are Cpl. Brent McBrayer and Officer James Singleton. The Police 2022 Employee of the Year is Corrections Officer Ryan Jackson. The Police Lifesaver Award was presented to Officers Dustin Colburn and Brandon Giles.

Orange Beach, Ala. – (OBA) – Orange Beach City Schools' Gifted Program is preparing to host the 4th Annual Cardboard Boat Regatta at Bear Point Community Beach. This fun and educational event challenges students to design and build boats using only cardboard, paint, tape, and glue. They will then race their creations in a friendly and creative competition.

Foley, Ala. – (OBA) – On April 13, 2025, at approximately 9:00 p.m., officers responded to a collision on County Road 65, south of Airport Road in Foley, involving a pickup truck and an electric scooter. A preliminary investigation determined that a 2006 Chevy Colorado pickup truck fatally struck two individuals who were riding the scooter.
