Orange Beach, Ala. – (OBA) – The first phase of Perdido Pass Seawall Park in Orange Beach is set to reopen to the public on Saturday, September 16, at sunrise. The reopening comes as part of a phased repair project undertaken by contractor MD Thomas and Thompson Engineering, together with the City of Orange Beach Coastal Resources.
The initial phase, designated by a green marking on the project map, encompasses the parking and boardwalk area closest to the Gulf Restaurant, situated on the southern side of the Perdido Pass bridge. While the area is reopening, it remains an active construction site. The public is advised to steer clear of fenced-off sections. Additional work in Phase 1, including plumbing, electrical, landscaping, and asphalt repairs, is yet to be completed. These tasks will be carried out at a later date, necessitating only minor area closures.
Subsequent phases of the project are also underway. Phase 2, highlighted in red on the project map, extends from the historic marker to the area under the Perdido Pass bridge. Phase 3, marked in blue, involves a new extension of the boardwalk to its northern side. Both Phase 2 and Phase 3 are slated for completion by late November or early December, depending on weather conditions.
The phased approach aims to keep portions of the fishing park on Perdido Pass accessible to the public throughout the duration of the repair project.
