Bay Minette, Ala. – (OBA) – Baldwin County Sheriff Huey Hoss Mack has officially announced his decision to retire from his position in a few months. In a heartfelt letter addressed to the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office family, Sheriff Mack shared his plans to transition to a new role as the Executive Director of the Alabama Sheriff's Association in Montgomery, Alabama.
In his letter, Sheriff Mack expressed his gratitude to his colleagues and the community, highlighting his long-standing commitment to the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office. Sheriff Mack has served the department since 1989 and has held the position of Sheriff since 2007. He emphasized that the decision to step down was not an easy one, given his deep-rooted connection to the office and the people he has worked with over the years.
"I have accepted an offer to become the Executive Director of the Alabama Sheriff's Association in Montgomery, Alabama," Sheriff Mack stated. "This has not been an easy decision as I have been with this office since 1989 and an honor to serve as your Sheriff since 2007. I believe the time is right for me to make this move. It is a great opportunity for me to work with all of Alabama's 67 Sheriffs."
Sheriff Mack plans to retire sometime in late summer or early fall, with his start date for the new position to be determined soon. He expressed his appreciation to his colleagues and the community for their support throughout his tenure, acknowledging the collective efforts that have prepared him for this new opportunity.
"This office, along with many of you, has helped to prepare me for this opportunity; thank you," he wrote. "As soon as a firm date has been determined I will let you know."
Despite his upcoming transition, Sheriff Mack assured his dedication to the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office until his departure. He pledged to continue working with his team to uphold the high standards and excellence the office has been known for.
"Until then I will work with all of you and continue to make this Sheriff's Office the BEST," he added.
Sheriff Mack concluded his letter with a message of gratitude and well-wishes for his colleagues and their families, expressing his heartfelt thanks for their support and cooperation over the years.
"Love to all of you in your family. May God Bless each of you and this Sheriff's Office," he said.
