Orange Beach council to discuss $120,000 training program with Andy Andrews

Orange Beach, Ala. – (OBA) – Orange Beach will discuss paying $120,000 to the Andy Andrews Group for consulting in a yearlong employee training program called “Creating Measurable Results” during its Sept. 12 work session.


The city council will meet in a joint regular/work session at 5 p.m. in council chambers at city hall.


The training will consist of two custom videos per month and a one-time in-person meeting with a consultant to kick off the program.


“Each lesson is to have 2 discussion questions in order to facilitate conversation and provide a means by which group leaders can think through and teach parts of this process,” the agreement states. “Videos are to be sent to client every other Wednesday.”


During the regular session, the council will consider:


  • A resolution awarding the bid for the inside buildout of the new Wildlife Center on Powerline Road to Rolin Construction for $720,000.
  • A second reading of an ordinance to ban exotic animals and to provide regulations for sheltering by agents of recognized wildlife associations and zoos.
  • A second reading of an ordinance to set a policy for attending meetings via electronic means.
  • A resolution amending a previous resolution on the purchase of a 2024 Freightliner M2 Pac knuckleboom truck for Public Works from Ingram Equipment Company for $227,211. The company was unable to fill the order. The council will now consider a 2025 model from the state Sourcewell purchasing cooperative at $234,926.
  • Two resolutions for contracts with Tanner Myatt for golf instruction and Brandy Reeves for tennis instruction both with the city’s Expect Excellence program.
  • Two resolutions authorizing the purchase of a Drone for the police department from Axon Enterprise in the amount of $69,324 and six drones from Adorama Camera for $90,029.
  • Resolutions authorizing the execution of a professional services agreement with Sun Coast Builders for structural engineering and related services, a second contract for engineering services for a temporary weight room for $2,500 and a third for engineering services for batting cages for $3,800. The council will also consider amending the budget to create a project budget of $250,000 for the weight room.
  • A resolution authorizing execution of a professional services agreement with J. F. Morris Performance to direct the play “The Wizard of Oz.”
  • A resolution authorizing the execution of a use agreement for two ATVs for use by the Coastal Alabama Business Chamber for the 50th Annual National Shrimp Festival.
  • Resolutions to authorize franchises for CrozzzzCabz, Gulf Limousine and Coast Cab to do business in the city of Orange Beach.
  • A resolution authorizing a franchise for BCC Waste Solutions to remove construction and demolition debris in the city.
  • Resolution to buy lighting for the Softball Field at the Sportsplex from Musco Sports Lighting for $86,500.
  • Changing the speed limit on portions of Canal Road and State Route 180.
