Orange Beach, Ala. - (OBA) - Yesterday we continued a tradition that goes back over 10 years, the annual flyover of the Islands at Perdido Pass on the Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend. We enjoy capturing the local boating scene from an aerial perspective each year.
We met with our pilot, Luke, at the Lost Bay Helicopters hanger at the Gulf Shores Airport just before 2:00 p.m. The day was clear, perfect for a flight.
After taking off, we flew southwest to the coastline to capture photos of beach goers from Gulf Place in Gulf Shores to Perdido Pass in Orange Beach. We then turned to the northeast and circled the Islands a couple of times, capturing the boating scene.
The aerial photos offer a view of the variety of boats that congregate around the islands. From the smallest paddleboards to the largest yachts, each one is a piece of the puzzle that makes up the Orange Beach Boating Community.
In addition to the boats, the photos capture the Islands themselves. The greenery on the islands, standing against the sugar white sands, are a reminder of the inherent beauty of the Orange Beach Area.
