Gulf Shores, Ala. – (OBA) – The 50th Annual National Shrimp Festival will now open at 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 12, 2023 instead of 10 am, as was originally planned. The delay is due to severe weather forecasts for Wednesday afternoon which will hamper the setup.
High winds and rain exceeding 2 inches are expected. These conditions make it unsafe for vendors to setup. The decision aims to keep everyone safe during the setup process.
Starting Thursday afternoon, the weather is expected to improve. Organizers are optimistic about the milestone weekend for the Gulf Coast. The festival is free to attend and further details can be found on
