Orange Beach, Ala. – (OBA) – The Orange Beach City Council will meet in a joint regular/work session on March 5 in council chambers at city hall. During the regular session, the council will consider:
Payment of expensive vouchers for just more than $7 million.
Approving a special events liquor license for the 2024 Wharf Boat Show on March 15-17.
Approving a special events liquor license of more than 30 days for Adventure Island.
Approving a special events license of more than 30 days for Oasis Beachside Café and Bar inside Phoenix West 2.
Extending the planned unit development for Romar Beach Hotel by one year with the new PUD expiring on March 1, 2025.
Extending for a year the planned unit development for the Jones Duplexes to be located east of Turquoise Place’s new parking garage. The property is owned by Rodney and Laurie Jones, who also own and operate Hudson Marina on Wilson Boulevard in Orange Beach.
Authorizing a grant agreement with the Pensacola and Perdido Bays Estuary Program for $220,000 to build and operate a 72-by-30-foot greenhouse with plans to grow native plants for shorelines, dune restoration and trails in the city. The location of the greenhouse has not been determined, and the funding is 100 percent reimbursable.
Approving a taxi franchise for Robin’s Rides to operate a service in Orange Beach.
Signing an agreement with Baldwin County for the maintenance of Navy Road north of Josephine.
Buying a Ford passenger van for the Expect Excellence for $60,868.
Buying a reel mower for the Landscape Department for $48,961 from Deere and Company.
Entering an agreement with the Alabama Department of Transportation for sod maintenance in the Canal Road right of way alongside a sidewalk from Gulf Bay Road to Wharf Parkway East.
Awarding a bid for on-call carpentry, drywall and painting services to MD Construction for three years.
Approving settling two sex discrimination suits brought by two former gay employees. Former Expect Excellence theater employee Chase Morrisette will receive $173,333 and former recreation department employee Laura Davis will receive $126,000.
An ordinance change to rename a section of the city code as Floodplain Development.

Appointing a voting delegate for the Alabama League of Municipalities annual convention set for Huntsville on May 15-18.
Amending the fee schedule for emergency medical treatment and transport by city ambulances.
Setting a public hearing for an ordinance change in the Bama Bayou planned unit development to revert to the previous zoning of general business. The suggested date is March 19.
Setting a public hearing for an ordinance to rezone 3.14 acres north of the Dollar General on State Route 161 to a planned unit development for Collins Enterprises and Cactus Properties to build an enclosed self-storage building on the site. The suggested date is March 19.
Setting a public hearing for an ordinance change to rezone .89 acres from neighborhood business to planned unit development for 17 townhomes to be built in 25000 block of Perdido Beach Boulevard. The suggested date is March 19.
