(OBA®) – A fellow resident’s fast response to a fire at an unoccupied home in Terry Cove Estates helped Orange Beach firefighters put it out fast and minimize damage to the home.
“We responded to 26633 Terry Cove Drive around 1:30 p.m. for a reported structure fire,” Fire Chief Mike Kimmerling said. “Thanks to the backyard neighbor who saw the fire and immediately called 911 we were able have a quick response and extinguish the fire.”
The fire had started outside the home and was threatening to spread higher when firefighters arrived at the home.
“We found an exterior fire that had spread up the hardie siding and was working into the attic,” Kimmerling said. “One 1 3/4" handline was pulled and extinguished the fire within a few minutes of being on scene. The attic was checked for extension. No one was home at the time.”
Kimmerling said the fire marshal was investigating the cause of the blaze.
