Orange Beach, Ala. – (OBA) – The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 3-10 is once again teaming up with the City of Orange Beach to offer a Safe Boating class on October 12th. The class will be held at Orange Beach Fire Station 1, located at 25855 John M. Snook Drive, behind City Hall.

Course materials are provided by the National Association of Safe Boating Law Administrators and include Alabama-specific content. The class will conclude with a quiz, and participants will earn a certificate for Alabama boat operator certification.

The class will begin promptly at 8 a.m. and will wrap up between 3 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Lunch, featuring pizza, will be provided. If available, the Orange Beach Marine Police will speak on local waterways and boating safety.

Topics covered include boat familiarization, trip planning, safe boat operations, and legal requirements for boaters, such as life jackets and fire extinguishers. Additional local topics will include the Intracoastal Waterway and boating knots.

Minors attending the class must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The cost is $40 per person, with discounts for family members, first responders, and active military, who pay $20. Payment can be made by cash or check at the class.
