Foley, Ala. – (OBA) – Last night the Foley Police Department was alerted to a tragic incident involving a pedestrian who was hit by a car. This occurred around 8:30 p.m. Thursday night near Co. Rd. 65 and Airport Road. The car involved in the accident did not remain at the scene.
First responders from Foley Police, the Foley Fire Department, and BCSO Deputies found a woman by the roadside. She was identified as Nycole Tasheena Tate, a 30-year-old resident of Foley. Sadly, Tate had sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the location.
Later that night, Kaleb Rayn Owen, a 42-year-old from Foley, reported to the authorities that he believed he had hit a deer. Police detectives and accident investigators went to Owen's home to follow up. They found his white 2008 BMW had damage that matched the evidence from the crash site. Initially cooperative, Owen later sought legal representation.
The investigation led to Owen's arrest. He is charged with leaving the scene of an accident that resulted in death or personal injury, a serious offense.
