Major Fentanyl Distribution Ring Busted in Foley

Foley, Ala. – (OBA) – In Foley, Alabama, the Baldwin County Drug Task Force made a significant drug seizure on January 9, 2024. After a three-month investigation into fentanyl distribution in Southern Baldwin County, authorities executed a search warrant at a residence on Moccasin Lane. The operation led to the arrest of Matthew Lyle Crider and Bailey Madison Hart.


Inside the house, officers found and seized two firearms and 1,627 fentanyl pills. This bust is part of a larger operation that has confiscated over 2,000 fentanyl tablets in total. Fentanyl, a synthetic opioid, is known for its extreme potency and danger, being 100 times more potent than morphine.


Matthew Crider faces three counts of Trafficking Fentanyl, while Bailey Hart is charged with Tampering with Physical Evidence and Trafficking Fentanyl. The Baldwin County Drug Task Force emphasizes its ongoing commitment to disrupting illegal drug trafficking and reducing drug availability in the community. Their efforts are supported by local municipal partners, crucial in maintaining safety in Baldwin County.


Based on the information from the DEA, fentanyl is a highly potent synthetic opioid, approximately 100 times more potent than morphine and 50 times more potent than heroin.
