Gulf Shores, Ala. – (OBA) – Gulf Shores has taken a major step to improve public safety by installing Automated External Defibrillators (AED's) in 22 key locations. This initiative, a collaboration between the city and Gulf Shores Fire Rescue, aims to provide quick help during heart emergencies. The AED's, costing $34,485.66, were approved by the City Council in 2023.

These life-saving devices are now accessible in places where people often gather, like the Gulf Shores City Hall and the Bodenhamer Recreation Center. Nick Russell, an Emergency Medical Services Officer, highlighted the importance of having AED's ready for community use. He emphasized that these devices could save lives by allowing immediate action in emergencies.

AED's are crucial because they can restore a normal heart rhythm during sudden cardiac arrest. Quick use of these devices can greatly increase survival chances. By placing AED's in busy areas, Gulf Shores is ensuring that residents and visitors can quickly respond to cardiac emergencies.
