South Foley's Landscape to Transform with Upcoming Sidewalk Project

Foley Sidewalk Project

Foley, Ala. – (OBA) – The city of Foley has announced plans to extend its sidewalk network, aiming to enhance connectivity between major attractions in the southern part of the city. The extension will span over 4,200 feet, seamlessly linking South Juniper Street near the Tanger Outlet Center to the Foley Event Center and OWA. This ambitious project is estimated to cost around $400,000.

City Administrator, Mike Thompson, highlighted the benefits of the upcoming walkway. He emphasized that the new route would offer pedestrian access for residents of the J1 Center, which is being developed as a residential area for seasonal students and workers. Thompson stated, "The introduction of this sidewalk ensures easy access for the initial 600 J1 students to commercial zones where they will be employed, leading towards Tanger and OWA."

Furthermore, the sidewalk is set to stretch from South Juniper Street, passing through Kenny Stabler Avenue, reaching Beck Road, and finally extending southwards along Koniar Way, ending at the Foley Farmers’ and Fishermen’s Market.
