Gulf Shores, Ala. – (OBA) – Get ready for a sizzling celebration this Independence Day! The Hangout, located in the heart of Gulf Shores, is having the first-ever Uncle Sam's Burger Slam. The event promises an unforgettable day of fun, food, and festivities for the entire family, culminating in the ultimate hamburger eating contest with a grand prize of $1000!

Up on the beaches of New Jersey they play around with the skinny Nathan's hot dogs. In the south we do it with a big, juicy Hangout Burger. Plus, there is live music, games for the kids and fireworks in the evening!


Competition Details:
 In Uncle Sam’s Burger Slam, competitors will race against the clock to devour as many delicious burgers as possible in 10 minutes. The contestant who consumes the most burgers will be crowned the Burger Slam Champion and take home the $1000 cash prize!

  • Eligibility: Open to all, no age restrictions, prioritization will be given to experienced competitive eaters. Registration is closing on July 2.

Now, the public can help it claim the top spot by voting online until Monday, February 17th. For more than 50 years, the festival has showcased fine arts on Alabama’s Gulf Coast. Each year, over 100 artists, including painters, sculptors, photographers, jewelry makers, and glassblowers, are selected through a jury process. Foley, Ala. – (OBA) – A Foley, Alabama man has been arrested on charges of sexually abusing a child under 12 years old after an investigation by the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO). Marcus Hunter Thomas, 36, was identified as the suspect in a case involving repeated abuse over the past year in Baldwin County.

Downtown Foley Gears Up for Mardi Gras-Themed Third Thursday

Dauphin Island Beach Renourishment Meeting Scheduled for March 6

Dauphin Island, Ala. – (OBA) – Officials from the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (ADCNR) and the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM) will host a public meeting about the Dauphin Island West End Beach Renourishment Project. Robertsdale, Ala. – (OBA) – The Baldwin County real estate market saw a decline in sales last month, but sellers remain confident as new listings outpaced last year’s numbers. According to the Baldwin REALTORS® Multiple Listing Service (MLS), January 2025 saw 15 fewer sales than the same month in 2024. However, 26 more properties were listed for sale than the previous year.
